SEAN AND JAMIE'S LAST (QUIET) DAY AND NIGHT IN PASADENA
WITH RICK AND KATHY

DAY SIX AND (A LITTLE SEVEN) DEPARTURE
Sunday and Monday, August 22 and 23, 2004

Sean had announced the day before that we were going to plan to do nothing today.
That way they would be relaxed packing and rested for the trip home.

So everyone snuggled all day.

At least till we got hungry. Kathy made a traditional eggs, rice cheese, cabbage and papers breakfast.

Which gave us the energy to go out to lunch and shop for snacks for the trip home.

Everyone enjoyed the meal at "Burger Continental," a block away from home on Lake Avenue, which has an Armenian flair. There were plenty of vegetarian choices for Jamie.

And plenty of leftovers.

Sean and Jamie stocked up on treats from "Trader Joe's". They loved the selection there, and after our walk we gave them an extra suitcase to fill and check in on their flight.

By bedtime it was time for some real pouting. They managed to sleep through the night without crying and waking us up.
In the morning it was time for this.
Rick played while Kathy sang them some songs while they did their last packing, to cheer them up.

More pouting. I think Jamie is making the driver a little nervous.
Jamie carried her pillow from New York on her lap the whole trip. (She put it down during the day in California, and slept on it during the nights.)
It was good to see some reassuring smiles and waves from the van...so we knew they would be alright.
POSTSCRIPT:
TWO DAYS LATER:
AN EMAIL CAME FROM SEAN SAYING Howdie folks! We just got in tonight about an hour ago.
Thanks for the welcome.
They were looking for volunteers because of an overbooking, and they put us up in a hotel in Vegas for the evening. We wish we had a web page for it, because Jamie got to (re)visit her childhood Star Trek friends at the Las Vegas Hilton attraction. We stayed at the Terrible's Resort and Casino for free, and were given travel vouchers for $315 dollars each! This was a decent trade, but we didn't pack anything but food in our carry ons (this meant no hot tub at Terribles...It will all be worth it, and we will have no reason to hesitate to visit again soon (if invited, of course).

OF COURSE, WE LOOK FORWARD TO THEIR RETURN!
As Kathy called out to them as they got in the van:
Thank you for choosing our destination for your vacation! (The four of us had a great time together.)
