I do very much hope you kitties are enjoying this journey in Stephen's memory as much as I am - after all, I am in very good company (sorry I am a little bias - we're all family and friends after all aren't we?!?) now with all of you with me and Stephen's spirit engulfing and surrounding us on this day (to me it's everyday) we are sure to have some fun or two and I do a lot because he's in my heart where he is safe. (It gives me a bit more rhythm, spunk, hop, giggles and a better ability to finish what I start like this walk of ours here.
I love you all - who ever you are and where ever you are - you are always with me in my journeys through life and in my favorite hobby since I was a uh hum a different kind of bouncing baby and that favorite hobby is simply WALKING!
I NEVER APPRICATED WALKING AS MUCH AS I DID AFTER GOING ON A WALK... WITH THE BIG CHEESE STEPHEN MICHAEL!
IF A WATERFALL COULD SPEAK...
OR EVEN WHISPER...
IT WOULD SAY
SOMETHING SWEET OF YOU
Now as I come quite closer to my intended destination, there are a few twists and turns I can choose from to complete this journey.
Now being the avid walker that I like to brag about so much (too much?) I generally never take the same path as I did the time before, especially if my destination happens to be to the same place. Why you might ask? Because I just figure ...well, I learned something about it (that path) and life the first time around by going that particular way - down that particular path, why would I want to learn the same lesson all over again?" Now I sound a little like Forrest(a) Gump! You know him right he was the lead character in the hit box office smash movie...the name of that movie I cant remember right now - after all I'm busy with you walking.
TO END UP THERE...ANYWAY!
SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL
ENJOY THE SIGHTS, SOUNDS AND SMELLS
ALONG THE WAY!
(That's something my very favorite motivator And former Congressman Les Brown used to say He is and/or was married to Gladys Knight She thought HE was a really pip!)
(I felt that way about Stephen too..)
I can enter through the park on the Avenue of Forest or I can make turns on to the same on Bard, or on the Zoo Road or Clove to be exact...
Now today since I am quite certain most of my readers have taken their own long and winding roads to just about everyway and anywhere...
before taking this long and hopefully Stephen inspiring journey with me, I will turn down the road of Clove and take it all the way down towards the boulevard of Victory!
In honor of my good friend and beloved brother
Towards Victory!! Whenever I was with my dear sweet brother, whenever I just followed along with Stephen in work, in play, even in letting him order his choice of food for me and eating with him, Stephen always seemed to make me feel like he knew exactly where he was going with things even if he was the only one who knew how to get there.
So in memoriam
But also in
and in somewhat
Victory(!) of my Dear Brother
and Friend Stephen's life.
I love him so
I miss him so
I bet you do too!
PAST!THE PARK OF STEPHEN'S PAST!
With Lots of Love!
OF STEPHEN'S PAST!
So past the "playground of my youth" (and maybe even yours) we go, past too the too tall trees of Clove Lakes Park off the avenue of Forest with those tall and now even taller and sturdy immense trees casting their oh so pronounced shadows over my youth (yours?) my life (and yours as well?).
Still...past the busy squirrels scurrying around at play (or is it work? I could never figure that one out and I forgot to ask my Nana that question...shoot). Past the mighty branches of the same aforementioned trees waving, swaying whispering to me - crackles in the woods, leaves shuffling and ruffling in another so like Stephen sort of dance to no end! Oh how lovely now... the pretty sounds of whispering wispy wandering waterfalls sleekly singing its merry forever song to me.
PUPPIES, PEOPLE, PLACES AND THINGS
Dogs on leashes, a jogger or two passing me bye, a little child runs around endlessly in a circle in front of their Mama and then plops right down! Oooops! The baby is OK!
As all the floating ducks and geese
took time to pause
just to make sure!
Yes! Then past a pretty church on the right... until...
until... UNTIL? I'm hungry?? Nope! But those sweet serene smells are unmistakable mind you...
IT'S ONLY EXHAUSTING IF YOU LET IT BE
Now for sure there are no cars, automobiles or any of those bombastic bastard buses around at this time of day on Staten Island.
(I bet you can't believe
a former ON MY KNEES bus driver
of PLAYSCHOOL BUS fame
would talk like that...
about other buses currently IN SERVICE but I just did!)
I just can't stand those darn dilapidated old buses!!!)
Shhh...it's another reason why I walk so much!
