THE SHANGHAI MAGLEV TRAIN TO THE PUDONG AIRPORT

We were very lucky to have had arrangements made for us to take the new Shanghai Maglev magnetic train, that reduces a grueling hour long stop and go traffic jam into a five minute train ride at over 300 miles per hour! The train actually sails inches above the track, held by magnetism, rather than touching it. It was an unforgetable and wondrous "short-cut"! And it got us to the plane on time.

Kathy wrote a poem on the Maglev train, at 300 miles per hour! Read the last of the 5 Shanghai Dumplings, 2005.

For a detailed story with great photos on this train, see Wanjianshu's Blog. He has writtena wonderful in depth article, with great photos, and links on how the train works and its history.
