The earliest fingering charts for the six-key flute

Numerous anonymous flute methods (consisting primarily of material translated from Hotteterre's 1707 method) appeared in London in the 18th century.

A number of copies of The Compleat Tutor for the German Flute from before or circa 1770 have a fingering chart for the six-key flute appended to the text. We have scanned in a few pages from three editions of the Compleat Tutor that contain such a chart. These scans are not very easy to read, and do not give many fingerings. They are provided more for historical interest than for reference. Thanks to Al Rice for providing the xerox copies.
